An interview with Alexander Hahn, the director of "Taurins Senior", interviewer Edvinas Pukšta.
"A film about the prolific director's return to Riga to take care of his sick father. The result of a long stay at home is a chaotic fake documentary constructed from home videos, reinvented moments, funny improvisations, bright memories, social media interventions, and occasional observational footage accompanied by a written monologue. Real-life situations blend into scripted scenes and wicked interpretations in this snappy comical family diary.
According to the director, the film was made on a very low budget: ""I had no money for actors, so I had to play a little bit and you can even see me half naked. It was not the actor... I did it myself"". The film interest of director Alexander Hahn, born in Latvia but raised in Germany, began at the moment when he accidentally saw film shots in the subway. He has two sons, Daniel (21) and Maximilian (16), who besides the film ""Taurins Senior"" have also been part of several of their father's film crews.
