Interview with director Ádám Császi and actor Edmond Oláh of “Three Thousand Numbered Pieces”, interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
“It’s about white guilt. It’s about how white people want to help persons of color, and how it just perpetuates the same racism all the time, how it doesn’t solve anything.” - Ádám Császi
It is a complicated story about a Hungarian director who rehearses a play with five young Roma actors. His play tells their real-life stories of abuse, drug addiction, and crime. However, instead of representing the truth of their experiences, it only capitalizes on their pain and exploits them.
Ádám Császi is a Hungarian theater and film director. Császi has also directed commercials, TV documentaries, and music videos but since 2012 he has been working solely on his feature film projects. He received an unofficial five-year ban on filmmaking for his debut “Land of Storms” in Panorama at Berlinale 2014 (probably the first Hungarian gay coming-out film ever made).
