A historical melodrama “The Chambermaid” tells the story of a poor 15-year old Anka, who works as a maid in a wealthy family just before World War 1. She finds a soulmate in the daughter of the family, Resi. Despite their different origin and status the girls become best friends and each other’s only light during the horrible events of the war.
A Slovakian film director Mariana Čengel Solčanská created this film based on Hana Lasicová’s story published in 2013 about a lesbian love story in Vienna in the beginning of the 20th century.
