Interview with Jonas Trukanas, the director of „Pensive“, interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
"For this film I think the biggest inspiration was (like) Lithuanian folk tales." - Jonas Trukanas
“Be the hunters, not the prey,” the school headmistress ironically wishes the students as they follow the long-held tradition of renting a cottage over the weekend to celebrate their graduation. Unfortunately, they're in for a wildly unexpected graduation party when a mysterious masked savage shows up to carry out a stylish massacre.
Jonas Trukanas graduated with honors in film directing from the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, United Kingdom, and is a two-time Berlinale Talents alumni. His debut short film “Booksmuggler” (2011) won the Audience Favorite Award at Vilnius International Film Festival. His other short films “Ghost I Don’t Remember” (2015), “Trolleybus-Man” (2016), and “When the Lights Go Out” (2018) have screened at many international film festivals including Neuchatel, Brussels, Gijon, etc. “Pensive” is his first feature film.
