Interview with Adrian Goiginger, the director of the film “The Fox", interviewer Christoph Gröner
"He's just a young guy who was born at the wrong time." – Adrian Goiginger
An introverted young soldier Franz finds a wounded fox cub whom he looks after like it was his own child and takes along to occupied France. Through this strange friendship with the animal, his own past that he has always run away from slowly catches up with him. “The Fox” is a true story of the director Adrian Goiginger’s great grandfather Franz Streitberger.
31-year-old Austrian director Adrian Goiginger made a name for himself in 2017 with his film “The Best of All Worlds” that is based on his childhood memories and tells the story of his drug-addicted mother. The film won a lot of prizes at festivals all around the world and if the backstory of “The Fox”, premiering at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival on the 20th of November, is anything to go by, it seems that Adrian Goiginger has found his niche in stories that are based on real life.
