Interview with Marysia Nikitiuk, the director of the film “Lucky girl”, interviewer Andrei Liimets
"We are still going to the cinemas. You bomb us but we buy the generators and we have the films." - Marysia Nikitiuk
Indifferent and ruthless yet popular and glamorous TV host has always had luck on her side until the day she discovers that she has serious health problems. Though a fictional story, the film portrays sufferings of a real life journalist Yanina Sokolova. Struggles, psychological states and intimate scenes are combined in this dark, cynically humored drama by Ukranian director Marysia Nikitiuk.
Director, fiction- and scriptwriter Marysia Nikitiuk presents her new movie in PÖFF. Her debut film “When the Trees Fall” received an award for the "Best script from Eastern Europe" in Cannes 2016. In order to create “Lucky girl” as realistic as possible she spent hours listening to stories of patients.
