Interview with the director of "The Wastetown", interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
"Black and white are both sides of any protagonist-antagonist story and I chose them to depict the social condition of the characters."- Ahmad Bahrami
Ahmad Bahram's film "The Wastetown" is about a woman released from prison who is looking for her beloved son. Bemani has killed her husband, in whose family's care her child was supposed to stay, but the brother-in-law Ebi claims to know nothing about the boy's fate. However, Bemani learns that Ebi had sold her son to a rich family. She tries to get more information from his co-workers, who demand obscene favours from her for the information. As a distressed mother, she is willing to go to extremes, but not in the way those men expect.
