An interview with Àlex Mañas, the director of "Hada", interviewer Helena Maarja Tarro.
Is there a correct way to present suicide in feature films? Partly done as a student project, the youth film, based on real-life examples, portrays a young girl who has ended her life on her own. After the end of the school year former classmates come together again to talk through what happened and to reflect on themselves, questioning whether it would have been possible to prevent the incident. Playing one of the main roles in the film, Héctor Vidondol not only demonstrates exceptional acting skills but also possesses a wonderful singing voice, and is known for his performances in various musicals in Barcelona theatres.
Àlex Mañas wrote and directed his first play in a professional theatre in 2005. As an author, his plays have been performed in several of the best theatres in many cities. With some of his plays, Mañas has won awards such as the SGAE National Theater Award and the Butaca Award. Since 2015, he has set his sights on materialising audiovisual projects, also as a director.
