Interview with Dubravka Turić, the director of the film „Traces“, interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
"I wanted the character to be alive, to make you see that she is also intelligent, she can laugh, and she has friends. So she is not just a one-dimensional character." - Dubravka Turić
Ana is a lonesome anthropologist with a rare and non-contagious skin disease that she is ashamed of and tries to cover with makeup. Once her father dies, Ana finally has to confront herself, her loneliness, her grief and her obsessions with the symbols from the gravestones that she seems to see everywhere around her. Perhaps a trip to her father’s village, the place of her happier childhood memories, could help her restart her life.
After a successful career as a film editor, Dubravka Turić turned to filmmaking. Her shorts "Belladonna" (2015), "Cherries" (2017) and "Tina" (2019) have screened at big festivals like Venice, Sundance, Rotterdam, Cannes and Sarajevo.
