An interview with Miguel Faus, the director of "The Quiet Maid", interviewer Javier Garcia Puerto
"In 2021, Variety selected the director Miguel Faus as one of the ten Spanish filmmakers to watch. His debut feature “The Quiet Maid” is the first European film ever funded by NFTs, thanks to a successful blockchain crowdfund created by Faus himself.
A young Colombian woman works as a maid in a summer mansion where a wealthy family enjoys their lush holidays. She is quiet and discreet, as she was instructed until she realizes that she can also find her ways of enjoying the summer.
Faus made two movies in one in “The Quiet Maid”. On the one hand, it is a character study of a working-class person struggling with their life, a traditional topic of European Cinema, but in this film, the social drama is balanced with heavy satire and sharp plot twists. “When I wanted to portray this bougie world, it was more making fun of it rather than criticizing it from a place of hatred or anger. It’s more like I find it all very absurd,” explains Faus.
