Interview with Carolina Hellsgård, the director of "The Flying Classroom", interviewer Jan Joonas Pevkur
"""The Flying Classroom"" is a modern adaptation of Erich Kästner's timeless novel. The protagonist of the story is a teenager named Martina, who, thanks to a scholarship, goes to study at a school in the Alps. However, a serious rivalry has developed over several generations between the residents and the school students. The girl must now decide whether to risk losing the scholarship and help her classmates or remain a bystander in the situation.
The creator of the new version of the film is a Swedish filmmaker Carolina Hellsgård, whose award-winning films have been screened at numerous film festivals worldwide, including this year's BNFF! According to the director, the film is completely different from the book: ""The writer introduced some elements like skating or graffiti, which are not in the book, and I have a feeling that he was pretty free when he interpreted this story. I also work with actors that also influence the script"".
